Bevan McGuiness lives near Perth with his wife and daughter. Although he has worked as a factory hand, geophysicist and laboratory assistant, he is now a teacher of chemistry at a boys’ school in Perth. His most recent novels are Slave of Sondelle and Scarred Man, the first two books in the Eleven Kingdoms trilogy from Harper Voyager.

Kirstyn McDermott is a Melbourne-based writer of dark fantasy and horror. Her first novel, Madigan Mine (Pan Macmillan 2010) won the Aurealis Award for Best Horror Novel this weekend. She is currently working on a second novel as well as one of the upcoming Twelve Planets collections for Twelfth Planet Press. Last month, she sat down to talk with Alisa Krasnostein. Tansy interviews fantasy Glenda Larke during a rare quiet moment at Swancon, this year's National Science Fiction Convention in Perth. Glenda Larke was born in Western Australia but has lived in Malaysia for several decades with her family. Since 1998 she has had one standalone fantasy novel and three trilogies released worldwide, mostly with HarperCollins Voyager. Her most recent trilogy, Watergivers, will be completed later this year with the release of Stormlord's Exile. http://glendalarke.com/news/

Alisa interviews fantasy author Tansy Rayner Roberts, who was first published in 1998 when Splashdance Silver won the inaugural George Turner Prize. More recently, Tansy won the Washington SF Association Small Press Short Fiction Award for "Siren Beat" (published by Twelfth Planet Press) in 2010. She is also the author of the Creature Court trilogy (HarperVoyager): Power and Majesty (2010), The Shattered City (2011) and Reign of Beasts (to be released later in 2011). Short story collection Love and Romanpunk is due for release from Twelfth Planet Press in May 2011.

In the first of this series of Galactic Chats, Tansy interviews Australian science fiction author Marianne de Pierres. Marianne is the author of the Parrish Plessis action adventure series and more recently the feminist space opera series Sentients of Orion, and under the name Marianne Delacourt has also written the Tara Sharp series of humorous crime novels. She recently had a boutique collection of short stories called Glitter Rose published by Twelfth Planet Press. Marianne has now turned her hand to paranormal YA fantasy with Burn Bright, the first book of the Night Creatures trilogy.
